Introduction
The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium is also known by the name of Raipur International Cricket Stadium. Located in the Naya Raipur city in Chhattisgarh, India, this stadium is a new cricket field that has seats for 65,000 spectators. Opened in the year 2008, this stadium is the 2nd largest cricket venue in India.
Situated on the national highway six in the capital city of Chhattisgarh and just six kilometers from the Raipur Airport, this stadium is one of the best in its infrastructure. This stadium has hosted a half marathon which was based on the theme – Let us run. This marathon was held on Dec 16, 2013 in order to mark the Vijay Diwas. Sunil Gavaskar rated Raipur International Cricket Stadium as a pioneer stadium that has world class infrastructure in India.
History
Established on 11th Sep 2008, Raipur International Cricket Stadium is also called Chhattisgarh International Cricket Stadium. Set up by the Government of Chhattisgarh, this stadium is operated by the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh. Till now the stadium has hosted a half marathon which was based on the theme – Let us run. It has also hosted number of cricket matches till now of which the first One Day International Standard Cricket Match was played amid the state of Chhattisgarh and Canada’s national cricket team. This game was played on 21st Nov, 2010.
Besides these matches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, in January 2013 announced that the IPL team Delhi Daredevils will host two of their home matches at this stadium.
How to Reach
The Raipur International Cricket Stadium is in close proximity to the railway station, airport, and other key attractions of the city. Being close to the railway station, people generally prefer reaching this stadium by train. Bus and private cars are other mode of conveyances that can be opted. Its proximity to the Raipur Airport which is just six kilometers away makes it easily accessible for the commuters.
This stadium is also easily accessible from the main highway as it is located on National Highway six.

Renovation
Thumps-up by the cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, this cricket stadium is no undeniably best in its infrastructure and facilities offered. He says that the stadium is world class best and so must be given attention in terms of renovation so that this stadium becomes the preferred one for hosting One Day International and Test Cricket Matches. It is anticipated that following required renovation, this stadium will live up to its international standards.
