Brief Description
In Kozhi piddi, main flavor comes through chicken stock’s usage. In this dish, deep-frying of boneless marinated chicken is done. Another addition of this dish is ginger-garlic corn flour concoction as well as onion spring greens for garnishing. This starter of Indo Chinese origin is best eaten hot for savoring its true flavor.
Preparation Time 60 mins Cooking Time 60 mins Serves 9 Ingredients For Kozhi Piddi:-
For Chicken Curry
- Chicken- 1 Kg
- Onion- Cut into small pieces 6 nos.
- Green Chillies-sliced 4 nos.
- Pepper Powder-1 tsp
- Curry Leaves-3 stalk
- Tomato- Cut into small pieces 4 nos.
- Ginger Garlic Paste 1½ tsp
- Garam Masala ½ tsp
- Chilli Ppowder-1 tsp
- Coriandel Powder-2 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder-2 tsp
- Cocunut Oil -3 tbsp
- Thick Cocunut Milk-2 cup
For Piddi
- Rice Powder 3 cup
- BoiledWater 2 cup
- Small Onion -4 no.
- GratedCocunut 1 cup
- Cumin Seeds -¼ tsp
How To Make Kozhi piddi
- In a bowl, boil water and mix powder of rice, cumin seeds, salt as well as small onion.
- To make a smooth as well as thick mix, keep pouring boiled water to it.
- Make various forms out of this mix such as sphere, cylinder etc. Take a liter of water in another bowl and put prepared pidi as well as coconut salt in it. Cook this gravy until it thickens by covering lid. At end, dish is ready.
- In pan, heat oil and cook onions until they turn golden brown. In it, fry chopped green chilies, paste of ginger and garlic, curry leaves as well as tomatoes. Next, add 1/2tsp powder of turmeric, 1tsp powder of red chili, garam masala as well as coriander powder.
- For minimum 10 minutes, marinate pieces of chicken.
- In pressure cooker, cook marinated chicken with 2 cups of water. Cook for only one whistle.
- To this cooked chicken, add coconut milk as well as piddi. Let this mixture boil for full 2 minutes.
- In another pan, heat oil for frying of small onions. Fry them until they turn brown. Lastly, pour this mixture over Kozhipiddi for proper seasoning.
- Relish the dish when hot.

Some Useful Tips
Marinating the boneless chicken will surely give the dish a extra taste. Take use of spices for adding that extra blend in this wonderful cuisine. Serving with rice is recommended.
