Mango Rice

Time to Prepare 15 minutes Cooking Time 15 minutes Serves 4 Ingredients For Mango Rice
- raw Peanuts- 4 tblsp
- Curry leaves- 5 to 6
- Basmati Rice- 150 gm
Masala
- Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1 ½ tsp
- Red Chilies- 6
- Grated Green Mango- 1 ½ cup
- grated Coconut- 4 tbsp
- Asafoetida powder- ½ tsp
For Tempering
- Chana Daal- 1 tbsp
- halved Red Chili- 1
- Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Oil- 3 tbsp
How To Make Mango Rice
- Steam the rice and when done take it out and spread on a plate for cooling.
- Prepare masala paste by blending half raw mango, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, red chilies, asafoetida powder and grated coconut in a blender.
- Heat oil in a frying pan.
- Fry chana dal, mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilies in it.
- Once the mustard seeds start spluttering add peanuts.
- Add the remaining amount of raw mango once the dal has turned golden.
- Sauté it all for a few minutes. Add in the prepared masala into it.
- Cook till all the raw smell is gone and take off the flames.
- Now mix it in with the rice. Add in salt and curry leaves as well.
- Mango rice is ready to be served.
