Sikar, is an northeastern district in the state of Rajasthan. Sikar town is the headquarters of the district. The district is surrounded by Jhunjhunu, Churu, Nagaur, Jaipur and Mahendragarh district of Haryana.

The total area of the district is 7742 sq. km. The district lies between 74°44’ to 75°25 East Longitude and 27°21’ To 28°12 North Latitude. The district experiences the extremes of weather with 48° C in the summer and 1°C in the winter.

The old name of the place was Beer Bhan Ka Bass. This place along with the neighboring district of Jhunjhunu were called Shekhawati region. The district is home to many forts built by Shiv Singh, son of Daulat Singh. Shiv Singh was one of the powerful rulers of the place. Some of the place to visit in Sikar Include

• Khatushyamji temple: Khatushyamji temple is dedicated to Barbareek, the son of Bheem. It is believed that Barbareek was an incarnation of Khatu Shaymji. The temple was constructed in his honor.
• Ganeshwar and Baleshwar: Ganeshwar and Baleshwar are great picnic spots near Sikar town. The Hot sulfur springs is a magnet for tourists.
• Jeen Mata Temple: The temple is dedicated to Jeen Mata, an incarnation of Durga Mata. The deity is believed to fulfill the wishes of her devotees. Mata is worshipped here in the eight-arm form, which is very rare.
