Ganganagar district was named after Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner. Maharaja Ganga Singh has contributed his efforts in builing Ganga Canal for Sri Ganganagar district. In the year 1927 Satluj river water brought through 89miles long Ganga Canal, this Canal turned as a gift thus, increased irrigation in Rajasthan.

The district headquarters is in the town of Sri Ganganagar. The district is located in northern district of Rajasthan state of India.

Sri Gananagar district economy is totally dependent on agriculture. Geographically, the district lies in Thar Desert with the help of Ganga Canal and Ignp Canal added beauty of flora and fauna to the Ganganagar District.

In Ganganagar district Horticulture also has become a source of income for farmers along with agricultural activities. Major crops grown in this region are:

The district is famous for the production of Citrus family fruit Horticulture and other fruits of Citrus family are grown.

Here people follow Hindu and Sikh religions mostly. They usually worship gods such as, Ramdevji, Gogaji etc.
