Bhilwara district is located in Rajasthan state of western India. There are no previous records on how the name of Bhilwara district was ascribed. In olden days the district was totally inhabited by bhils tribe. Later on these bhils moved away towards the hilly tracts and interior places. Today few Bhils live and can be seen in this area.

The headquarters of the district is in the city of Bhilwara. The Bhilwara district is situated between 25°.00' to 27°.50' North Latitude and 74°.03' to 75°.25' East longitude. The district total area is up to 10,455km. 

According to geographical area the district is bounded by Ajmer district on the north, in the northwest, west by Rajasamand district and in the southwest by Udaipur, in the south and southeast by chittorgarh district and Bundi and Tonk districts by the east and northeast.

The district climatic conditions are extreme in all the three seasons. However, Bhilwara has dry hot summers from the month of March to June and a very breezy cold winter season starts from December to February. And the monsoon season steps from mid September to about the end of November.

The district has grown its industrial market with small scale and cottage industry, Agro-Based Industries, Tobacco based Industries, Cotton based Industries, Wool based industries, Synthetic Fabric Unit etc and now it can be said that this district is worldwide famous for textile industry.
