Turnip Pickle
Brief Description
Turnip pickle is a slightly crunchy and sour tasting pickle. It is served as a component in many salads and also as a side dish to meat recipes. Learn how to prepare this traditional recipe by following the steps given below.
Preparation Time 10 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes Number of Serves 1 jar Ingredients For Turnip Pickle
- Turnips- 1/2 kg
- Mustard Oil- 1 cup
- Garlic- 15 cloves
- Vinegar- 1 cup
- Sugar- 1 cup
- Dry Dates- 15
- Raisins- 6 tsp
- Peppercorn- 1 tsp
- Chili powder- 2 tsp
- Onions seeds- 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds- 1 tsp
- Salt- 1/3 cup
How To Make Turnip Pickle
- Take sugar, spices and grind them together.
- Using vinegar blend the raisins and dates.
- Wash and clean turnips before slicing them into thick round pieces.
- Rub the turnips with salt and set it aside for 8 hours.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the garlic in it.
- Add in the turnips and fry them till it becomes a bit dry.
- Now add vinegar, ground spices-sugar and ground dates-raisins.
- Transfer to a preserving/ pickle jar and keep under the sun for 5 days..
