Sweet Turnip And Carrot
Brief Description
Sweet turnip and carrot pickle is well liked all over Asia. This is a very simple recipe and is can be prepared easily at home by following the recipe provided here.
Preparation Time 10 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes Number of Serves 1 jar Ingredients For Sweet Turnip And Carrot
- 250 ml of Mustard Oil
- 2 ½ kg Carrots & Turnips
- 75 g Jaggery
- 75 g Red chili powder
- 1 ½ tsp Vinegar
- 120 g Mustard seeds
- 125 g Salt
- 15 g White cumin seeds
- 30 g Garlic
- ½ tsp Cinnamon powder
- 90 g Onion
- 60 g Dry dates
- 30 g Ginger
- 60 g Tamarind
How To Make Sweet Turnip And Carrot
- In two separate bowls soak dates and tamarind in water.
- Slice the date in long thin pieces and remove seeds.
- Take a pan and fry ginger, garlic and onion. Add in the red chili powder, cumin seeds, tamarind pulp, date slices, turnip pieces, carrots, salt and ground spices. Make sure you mix them well.
- Transfer it all to a jar and keep it under the sun for 4 day.
- Dissolve jaggery in 1 cup water and pour it over the pickle. Put it back under the sun for about 10 more days.
