Mewa Nu Achar
Brief Description
Mesu pickle is a traditional Sikkimese pickle recipe prepared with distilled bamboo and spices and stored in air tight jars. This pickle recipe can be prepared by following this simple method.
Preparation Time 60 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes Number of Serves 4 Ingredients For Mewa Nu Achar
- Grated Carrot- 1
- Paprika- 1 tbsp
- Dried Mango- ½ tbsp
- Dried Cherries- ½ tbsp
- Dried Papaya- ½ tbsp
- Dried Pineapples- ½ tbsp
- Dried Prunes- ½ tbsp
- Dried Cranberries- ½ tbsp
- Dried Blueberries- ½ tbsp
- Dried Figs- ½ tbsp
- Dried Raisins- ½ tbsp
- Chopped Garlic- ½ tbsp
- Sugar- ½ tbsp
- White Vinegar- ½ cup
- Turmeric Powder- ¼ tsp
- Mughlai Garam Masala- 1/2 tsp
- Saffron- 2-3 strands
- Cardamom Powder- A pinch
- Nutmeg Powder- A pinch
- Salt as needed
How To Make Mewa Nu Achar
- Keep he dry fruits immersed in water the night before cooking.
- Toss the carrots with sugar, 1 tbsp vinegar and garlic and then put it on heat. Cook till carrots soften up.
- Add in the soaked dry fruits along with salt, vinegar, turmeric powder, paprika, mughlai garam masala, nutmeg powder, cardamom powder and saffron.
- Keep stirring while cooking till there is no liquid left.
- Take it off the heat and set it aside for cooling. Once it has cooled down transfer it into a airtight jar and refrigerate.
