The Hindustan Times News Paper
Hindustan Times is an English daily newspaper of India. Its foundation was laid in the year of 1924 with roots having in the independence movement of India. It is one of the greatest newspapers of India by its propagation. As per Audit Bureau of Circulation, it has a propagation of about 104 million copies as of year of 2010. According to The Indian Readership Survey, which was conducted in the year of 2012, revealed that this paper has its readership of nearly37.67 lakhs, thereby enjoying the rank of second most widely preferred paper after The Times of India. This paper sweeps a vast coverage in the northern part of India with editions coming simultaneously from Chandigarh, Bhopal, Ranchi, Patna, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. Jaipur’s print location was stopped from June 2006. This paper launched HT Next, a youth daily in the year of 2004. The editions of Kolkata and Mumbai were launched in the years of 2000 and 2005 respectively. The other publications of this paper are Kadambani, Nandan, Hindustan and Mint. The media group possesses Fever, a radio channel and also organizes a yearly Luxury conference, who boasts of speakers such as Cartier MD Patrick Normand, Gucci CEO Robert Polet, Shoemaker Christian Louboutin and Diane von Fürstenberg. It is governed by the KK Birla, which is a major branch of the family of Birla. Master Sunder Singh Lyallpuri, founder of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Akali movement in the state of Punjab laid its foundation in the year of 1924. S. Chanchal Singh, and S Mangal Singh Gill were made in-charge of this paper. Master Tara Singh and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya were the members of the Managing committee. The Chief Patron and Managing Chairman was Master Sunder Singh Lyallpuri. Its first editor was K.M. Panikkar. Its opening ceremony was conducted by Mahatma Gandhi on September 26th 1924. Its first was published form Naya Bazar, Delhi. This paper contained articles and writings from Rubi Waston, Dr Saifuddin Kichlu, Harinder Nath Chattopadhyaya, Bernard Haton, Ruchi Ram Sahni, T. L. Vaswani, Maulana Mohammad Ali, St. Nihal Singh, and C. F. Andrews. This paper also has its roots in the independence movement of India during mid of the twentieth century and opposed the Hindustan Times Contempt Case at Allahabad High Court. This paper was also edited many times by noted people of India such as Khushwant Singh and Devdas Gandhi. Sanjoy Narayan has been made editor in chief of this and was to take charge in August 2008. This paper consists of eight page daily lifestyle supplement, which is chiefly called as HT Café. Besides, it has supplement of education known as ‘HT Education’, which is published on Wednesdays. It is also available with a magazine, called as Brunch, which is published on Sundays. The edition of Mumbai is governed by a noted person and former student of NMIMS, Mohit Ahuja. Its resident editor in city of Mumbai is Soumya Bhattacharya.
Hindustan Times of Delhi is a part of KK Birla group and is governed by Shobhana Bhartia, who is granddaughter of GD Birla and daughter of KK Birla, a noted industrialist. It is governed by HT Media Ltd. KK Birla Group has nearly 69% of stake in HT Media, which is presently valued as Rs 834 crore. Shobhana Bhartia was the first lady chief executive of this national newspaper. She has been made an MP of Rajya Sabha from Congress Party.
