Tadoba National Park

Tadoba National Park is one of the most ancient parks and it is situated in Maharashtra and this is a compact one. It is spread over an area of 120 kilometers square and it is having an elevation towering of approximately 200 meters. It is located 100 kms in Nagpur south and 40 kms to the northern region and this comes in the Chandrapur region. If you are a lover of wildlife, then this is an ideal place and this is one of the primer reasons that millions of tourists are attracted to this place. In fact, this place is popular by the name of Vidarbha Jewel and they were hugely populated through Gond Tribes. This is one of the renowned national parks and it has got its name through Taru and that is the local deity. He was killed through a tiger, during a fight. Moreover, the villagers of this place worship him. This is one of the most beautiful parks and it has been spread over an area of 623 kilometers square and you can also find 2 forest rectangles i.e. Adhari Range and Tadoba. Certainly, this is one of the largest 28 Indian tiger reserve project. This park is known to have the fifty tigers and you can also find some of the astonishing wildlife creatures at this place and these include- Hyenas, Wild Dogs, Leopards, Gaur, Jungle cats, Sloth Bears and Civet. You would also get to view some of the beautiful Indian deer species and that includes- Nilgai, Sambar, Barking Deer and Cheetal. Moreover, you can also get to view here Marsh Crocodile and natural birds are most popular here. You would get to spend here momentous time of your life.

History

According to the legends, Tars was a chief of the village and he was killed during the combat with tiger. Now, there is a shrine and that is present below a tree and it is situated on Tadoba Lake banks. However, this temple gets a lot of visitors from adivasis and especially during the time of festival that is organized in Pausha; Hindu month that is held between the months of December to January. This forest was ruled through Gond kings and during the time of 1935, hunting was banned at this place. It was in year 1955, there was a declaration made for this national park and it spread to an area of 117 km2. It was in year 1986, that Wildlife Andhari sanctuary was located in adjoining forests and then both of them were combined and they formed tiger reserve. 

Best Time To Visit

The months of December till February are best for visiting this place.

How To Get There

This is a perfect amalgamation of ancient national parks and forest jungle and you can get over here from any place. This is located in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra. If you are interested in boarding a flight, then that can be easily taken from Nagpur and this is only 158 km. This place can also be reached through rail and that is Chandrapur and it is only 45 kms through park. Moreover, you can also visit this national park through buses that are managed through state and private buses as well.

Things To Do In National Park

If you are into this park, then definitely enjoy the trips of jungle safari and this is available in six safaris as well as four wheeler drive too. You can also travel through the help of gypsy travels and there are local traveling guides that would provide information. You can also avail bus services and through which you can take the entire trip of this park. Bordering railway station is located just 40 kms and that is at Delhi the main line of Chennai. You can visit this national park during morning 5:30 am to 10:30 am and then 2: 40 pm to 6 pm, but this facility is not provided on Tuesdays.

In order to hire the services of local guides, you need to visit Moharli gate, Zari gate and Navaegaon gate and this service is easily available at Rs. 60. You can plan your stay in lodge or 5 rest houses.
