South Button Island National Park

In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands,off the coast of India,the South Button Island National Park is situated, which covers the total area of about 2 square miles(5km2).

Chromatic blue water and abundantgreen trees and shrubsadds beauty to this island.Different types of coloured fish and reeds of various shapes can be seen under the water which make it a new world.

The South Button Island National Park is on the south-west of Havelock Island.By motor boat it  takes hardly two hours.Shallow water coral reefs can be seen clearly in this Island that draws the main attention.

Depth of these Tropical coral reefs is 6 ft (1.8 m) as shallow water.Scuba Diving is very popular sport here which is world famous.

December to April are the best months in which one can view this beautiful island.In these months weather  is very likeableand beside this there are sports like scuba diving  which is very good for enjoyment in these months.

How To Get There

By Air

In Andaman and Nicobar Island,Port Blair is the single airport which is connected with Chennai and Kolkata.There are only two operators,Kingfisher and Jet Airways.To reach there it takes two hours.

By Charted Flights

Charted flights land atPort Blair,details can be seen on website www.dgca.nic.in

Shipping is the foremost option to  visit this park.For this purpose a boat or ship can be taken from Port Blair.

Things To Do In South Button Island National Park

Visit Campbell Shoal – Andaman

This is one of the known place situated at 10 nautical miles off the south-east Coast of Middle Andaman Island.Mostly tranquilize&invulnerable diving site set out amidst surrounding  hard coral reef. InAndamans ,it is considered as best, it offers diving depths from 5 meters to 25 meters.By dinghies one can reach there. On the fordable parts they are glazed with Coral Bommies and Table Corals & mainly descent down the reef with Acropora Corals.Lots of lower fishes dwell here and many colourful Groupers &Reef Sharks inhabit this area. 

Turtle Island – Andaman

Five kilometers away from north of South Button Island it is located.This island is small in size and has beautiful  white sandy beachsurroundings its southern coast.Few kilometers to the south –east very large shallow reef are elongated&it offerslarge opportunities for diving.In the eastern part adequate diving is joined with Middle Button Island with this great beach and when meld with an excursion to the nearby South Button National Park makes for a extraordinary leisure holiday, particularly for the lover seekers of Sand,Sea and Sun.

For  snorkelers this pleasant place is always very  desirable.Andin all snorkeling sites it is considered as the foremost coral diversity  that is seen in only one location.

Wildlife In South Button Island National Park

On the southern side this island is a small spot in the sea with a rock-face rising out of the water, is petty more than an acrein area, which is beautiful coral garden with many fascinating Grottoes. This small island descend along a tiny wall submerged on the western side and is host to schooling Snappers, Surgeonfish, Barracuda, Big-Eye Trevally and Napoleon Wrasse.Brag of a exquisite water expanse of coral garden in as much as 12 meters of water  in the eastern side around which Manta Rays and Devil Rays often visit with the occasional Leopard Shark.Water Lizards, Dugong, Octopuses, Morays, Lionfish, Shrimp and Nudibranchs of manycolors and shapes are found in South Button Island National Park in large quantity.
