North Button Island National Park

This National Park is located in Andaman & Nicobar union territory of India.  The park is spread in 44 sqml and is a natural habitat of dolphin.  This park was established in 1979 in Andaman district of the territory. The district headquarters is located at 60 kilometers distance from this park.  If anyone desirous to come here by air route, he will have to use Andaman Airport which is located at 200 kilometers from this park. The period December to march is best time to visit this park.  Dolphins, water monitor lizard are the main species found here.

Best Time To Visit

In this park the visitors can enjoy during the month of December to March.  The major attraction of the park is the species like Dolphins and Dugong water monitor lizard (namely Iguana).  Besides this park, some ore visiting places are there.  Famous Barren Island is also located at a distance of 60 kilometers from main group of Andaman.   The north east direction from the capital Port Blair is 125 kilometers far from this place.   The deep and blue water around whole island is the natural habitat of Dolphins.    In the western direction from Port Blair, Marine National Park is located.  The rarely found sea eagle of white belly is one of the major attraction points of this national park.  Wood pigeon and Andaman teals are other species which attract the tourist time and again.

How To Get There

By Air: This national park is well connected with air route.  Port Blair airport is the only airport of this island.  Presently Jet Airways and Kingfisher airlines are operating routine flights from these airports.  Chennai and Kolkata are the other main airports attached. 

By Water:  From various coastal cities of India like, Chennai, Kolkata and Vishakhapattanam, ships are available to this island. Not less than four trips are operated from Chennai and Kolkata to Andaman every month.   Only Vishakhapattanam is the port from where only one trip is being operated per month.   The normal reach timings are 60 hours and after this journey, ship halts at Port Blair for minimum of three days.

Wildlife

The environment of this island is very suitable for development of Dolphins, monitor lizards of water, turtles dugongs etc.  Best time to see the park is from December to march every year.  The main attraction of this island is Cerulean Whale, though this is normally not seen but in cold winters, the large specie comes on upper layer of water for hours a day.

Adventures

In this area some adventure lovers also perform scuba diving and by doing this they can view the real living pattern of various species of the sea.  From small Jelly fish to Cerulean Whale, all can be viewed by scuba divers.

Weather

Special climatic conditions of this region provide a typical climate throughout the year.  Though any tropical or continental climate do not exists here.  The average temperature shuttles in between 200 to 300 Celsius. From Jun to October is the time for heavy and continuous rainy season.
