History
It is another attraction that the origin place of holy river Ganges is inside this park, the Gomukh glacier. This national park has derives its name on this glacier. This national park works like a bridge between Govind national park and Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. In this park one can see the high land points, very steep and deep cliffs, glaciers full of rocks and thin area valleys all along.  The location of this national park is also varying starting from the lowest height of 1800 mtrs to 70-83 mtrs from MSL. The diversity of the flora and fauna seems according to the elevation of the park. The climatic conditions are also varying from subtropical to the grassy landmasses. This national park has peculiar type of hilly ecological system. The biological aspects of Himalayan region are also intermingled with physical varieties. The vast landscape is full of grassy areas, though some clubbed areas of Kharsu and Betula trees are also grown up at various height levels of this area. The route to the Gomukh is sided by the hilly mountains and is very steep. At some places the route is disturbed by the dangerous landslides.    The reason of the landslides in this area is only due to excavation of trees and is impossible to recover the loss as the core of the land has disturbed due to uprooting and extensive soil erosion by the rain.  The continuous deficit of this forest is recordable as the impact would be long life and the ecological balance is purely dependent on the stability of landscape.  Â
Best Time To Visit
This national park is best to visit during the period from April to October.  From November onwards the chilled winter starts here and lasts till March. In this season the sunshine is also difficult to touch the land as dense forestry interrupts the same. Rainy season also falls between the best times. But if a person keeps some preventive measure, the danger of landslides can be avoided.
