Patna Planetarium Patna
The Planetarium of the Indira Gandhi is situated in the Science Complex of Indira Gandhi in Patna. In all over the Asia, this Patna Planetarium is the largest one. A bulky number of foreign as well as domestic visitors visit this planetarium. Films based on the subjects that are related to astronomy were shown in this planetarium. Exhibitions held at this planetarium attracts the public. Locally, this planetarium is known as ‘Taramandal’ and officially it is named as Patna Planetarium.
History
This planetarium was manufactured with total amount of Rs. 11 Crores by the efforts of the Bihar Council of Science and Technology. The basic concept of this planetarium was given by Chief Minister of Bihar named Shri Satyendra Narain Sinha in year 1989 and also he founded the stone of this building on October 1989. Later on, this planetarium was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Bihar named Shri Laloo Prasad Yadav on 21st March 1993. This planetarium was opened for common public on 1st April 1993 and was devoted to the Nation. This planetarium was named following the named of former Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
Facilities
This planetarium of the Indira Gandhi had projection system of state-of-art and considered as the largest planetarium among all over the Asia. Mr. Amitabh Gosh is the Managing Director of this Patna Planetarium presently.
Various films shows were held in this planetarium related to astronomy subjects. Total of 2 shows were shown, first show started from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm and the second show started from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Monday are closed. The ticket price is of Rs. 20 both for child or adult and there were total of 276 seats available in this Planetarium. Various seminars and exhibitions were also held in this planetarium.
How to Reach
This Patna Planetarium is situated nearby the office of Income Tax Golambar on Bailey Road. It is about 8 km far from the airport of Patna, about 1 1/2 km far from the railway station of Patna, 10 km far from the private bus stand, and about 2 km distance from government bus stand.
By Rail: Railway station of Patna is a junction and has well linked with the other cities. Direct train service to Patna is also there from Chennai (PnbeErs Express), Delhi (Rajshani Exp), Bangalore (Sanghmitra Exp), Mumbai (RajpbCstm SupE), and Kolkata (Poorva Express) and other major cities.
By Air: International airport is located in the Patna that is well linked with the other cities in India. There is service of Kingfisher, Jet airways, and Indigo flights from Patna and to the Patna.
By Road: At the cost of Rs. 2 to 5 per km, services of buses are also available for other cities and towns.
