Ibnsina Academy Of Medieval Medicine & Sciences Aligarh
In year 1882 under Act of Indian Trusts, an Indian NGOs named IbnSina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences (IAMMS) is registered. In year 2004, this academy got official approval from the Government of India that is Ayush department and Ministry of Family Welfare and Health and promoted this academy as the centre of excellence in year 2008. The people who had a great interest in the history of science and medicine and keen interest to take part in activities of academy got membership easily. This organization is a charitable trust so Income Tax under the 1961 Act of Income Tax under section 80G exempted the donations to this academy.
History
This academy of IbnSina Medieval Medicine and Sciences is expansion of the Majlis IbnSina, which was established in the year 1965 under the guidance of Tibbi Academy. There were group discussions in the MajlisIbnSina on a monthly basis. The important topics on health were discussed there like first meeting of this academy had a group discussion based on typhoid. All the memorial committees established in past including MajlisIbnSina (1965), ShifaulMulk Committee (1970), and Tibbi Academy (1963) were all merged into one trust that is established as IbnSina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences in year 2000. Officially, this academy was inaugurated on the date 21st April 2001. This academy was inaugurated by the former vice chancellor of university of Aligarh named as Mohammad Hamid Ansari on 21st April 2001. Hakim Syed ZillurRahman is the founder president of this academy.
Mission and Objectives
- To enhance the work of the scientists and physicians through the studies that are IbnSina and its social group —
- To circulate and distribute the important knowledge regarding science, technology, medicine, philosophy, preventive and social medical science, and environment and hygiene among the public.
- To convince the people to take keen interest in the important information regarding the medicine, its hygiene with all advanced research on these, discoveries and invention related to them and also to make proper consumption of mass media for broadcast, distribution and conduction of the products.
- To get more knowledge about the various theories depending upon the methodologies, philosophies, and system of medical science.
- To save the heritage, science, and Indian culture artefacts that includes the medicine history.
- To make struggle related to integration, synthesis, adjustments and also to organize the symposia, seminars, education programmes, conferences, workshops, and also to enhance the work on academic basis to develop the advancement of the medical science.
- IbnSina Academy is a portion of the participants that are linked with the variety of issues based on health in all over the world.
Collections
Hakim Karam Hussain Museum on History of Medicine and Sciences
With a huge collection and exhibitions units, there is another academic unit named as Karam Husain Museum based on the medicine and sciences. The basic theme of this museum is related to the health and disease information including the iconographic culture and focused material of medieval medicines and sciences. There is huge collection of pictures and bust of various physicians that belongs to the Babylonian, Greeks, Arab, Egyptians, and other Indian civilizations. Also there is huge collection of memorable of physicians including catalogues, manuscripts of medical, philately, medical souvenirs, and also laureates that are exhibited and also preserved in this museum.
Hakim Fazlur Rahman Museum on Arts, Culture and Orientalism
In the museum, there is great collection of photographic print, utensils, calico garment, postage stamps, coins, watercolors, busts, pens, engravings, paintings, drawings, relics, memoirs, photographic prints, gemstones, and relics related to various personalities. There is family collections also in this museum like family collection of Prof. Syed Mahmood Husain and also family collection of Roohi MahbudHasan etc.
