City Museum Hyderabad
City Museum Hyderabad is located at Purani Haveli at Hyderabad and it is functioning from 11th March, 2012. Prince MuffakhamJah, who is the Chairman of the Nizam’s Jubilee Pavilion Trust inaugurated this museum. Incidentally, Prince MuffakhamJah is the grandson of the last ruler of the Princely State of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan.
The foundation of the City of Hyderabad is known to be laid in the year 1591 AD. However, there are evidences to believe the habitations here were there from much more earlier times and it was the desire of everyone who visits Hyderabad to know about its earlier History. This museum born out of efforts taken by the Trust and the research conducted on that behalf, will address all those queries that a visitor may have when one visits the city.
History
Hyderabad, which is called the City of Pearls, has legendary palaces and fabled nawabs ruling this wonderful princely state over a period of time there were many unanswered questions on how the city grew over these years and who were the visionaries shaping this city to this grandeur.
Based on this requirement ,Nizam’s Jubilee Pavilion Trust decided to show case the heritage and history of Hyderabad over a period of 4000 years, by conducting research on the achievement of people in this glorious city during this period and exhibiting the artefacts, old maps and photographs. Many historians conducted systematic and proper research over two years and established the contents of this museum.
This museum is established by the trust as an extension to Nizam museum, which was opened in the year 2000. Since the City Museum is in the same premises as of Nizam Museum, a single entry ticket will permit visitors to have access to both the museums.
The Neolithic pots collected from Pattancheru area and the seven specifically designed maps depicting Hyderabad’s history since 13th Century are the main attractions of the museum.
Collections
This museum has rare collections which include Neolithic pots, Europiean styled figurines of terracotta material, Megalithi sites, ancient coins of Satvahana period and many similar items.
The visitors can have a look at the gigantic wardrobe of the Sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, as they visit the City Museum.
Exhibitions
The museum has a touch screen kiosk which helps the visitor see the pictorial history of the City. This piece of exhibit enables visitors to know about the history of 50 localities of Hyderabad, which are referred as Mohallahs. The touchscreen also enables one to get the information in four different languates, namely, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and English.
The collections exhibited here include models of all prominent buildings of Hyderabad made in Silver, Urdu citations about Mir Osman Ali Khan, gold burnished wooden throne used during Silver Jubilee celebrations, besides the vintage cars 1930 Rolls Royce, Packard and a Mark V Jaguar which were received as gifts by the Last Nizam of the State in 1937, during Silver Jubilee Celebrations.

Road

Hyderabad Railway Station , popularly known as Nampally Railway Station, is in the South Central Railway division where a number of fast moving trains stop, which are connecting most of the destinations of the Country. Many trains originate from Hyderabad.
Air
Hyderabad has an international airport where flights from all over the world have schedules and stoppages.
Timings and Ticket Prices
The museum is open to Public from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on all days, except on Friday which is a holiday. The entrance fee is Rs 65 for adults and Rs 15 for children.
