Location of Surat Municipal Corporation

Surat Municipal Corporation is local self government body and this was formed under Provincial Bombay Municipal Act, 1949. It is responsible for carrying out all the discretionary functions as well as obligatory functions. These functions were entrusted by act of BPMC in year 1949. It has got the following mission statement- to make Surat vibrant, self-reliant, sustainable and beautiful city with basic amenities and also provide better life. Surat Municipal Corporation plays a very important role as principal facilitator and it is also a provider of quality services so that the people can live a quality life. Act of Bombay Provincial Municipal, 1949 led to establishment of Surat Municipal Corporation. Surat city has been divided into 2 parts- namely old city and new city. According to the Government, Surat Municipal Corporation is the oldest body that is exists from 1852 AD. Some of the departments in which this Surat Municipal Corporation will be providing its functions are-health care, social welfare, support system, engineering and revenue. Some of the services provided by Surat Municipal Corporation are as follows.
