In 1193, after the defeating of hindu’s kingdom of Delhi Qutab-ud-din Aibak built QutabMinar, 73 m-high tower. The tower has five floors, with balcony and tapers from a 15 m diameter at the base to just 2.5 m at the top. Red sandstone, marble and sandstone is used for these floors;. At the foot of the tower is the, the first mosque in india is Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque which is situated in on the ground of the QutabMinar.It has been said that '27 Hindu temples'has been destroy to get the material for construting it. A 7 m-high iron pillar stands in the courtyard of the mosque.

The Qutubminar is the witness for many events in Delhi which have been of great historical significance. UNESCO took the responsibility for QutabMinar because it is the main attraction for the tourist and can earn foreign currency continuously .There is the garden which refresh the mood of the visitors So that they can enjoy a lot in a pleasant atmosphere.

History

The QutabMinar was built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi, in 1200 AD, but he was unable to complete only basement. Then his successor, Iltutmushtook the charge and he constructed only three floors which is made by red stone, and in 1368, Firoz Shah Tughlak built the fifth and the top floor. In such a way the QutabMinar had been constructed by three Emperors. Dats why the material is differ used to build QutabMinar. The construction of the QutabMinar has been completed in the year of 1192. QutabMinar is the best sign for Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture.Is the the famous tower all over India.

Architecture of Qutab Minar

The height of the QutabMinar is of 72.5meter from the ground and the stairs in the building in a circle shape from top to bottm . The total no of stairs is 379. QuatbMinar is having 5 floors. The bottom stairs are wide but as moving towardsfrom down to up the size of the stairs goes narrow. The diameter of the minar also decrese from bottom to top.Minar has a diameter of 14.3 m at the ground while the top floor has remained a diameter of 2.75 m only.Qutub-ud-in Aibak, the Great Slave Dynasty emperor could buildonefloor, Sultan Iltutmish built rest another threefloors, and another above two floors constructed by FerozTuglaq in 1368. So the differ material is used for building the QutabMinar.some portion of the minaret is built by red sandstone and another is built by marble, sandstone and bricks.

There are many ayaten of Quran holy scripture are made on the minaret and the work of carving is marvelous. There are many verses of Holy Quran and complicated work of carvings, floral motifs and some words of Arabhas been mentioned on the QutabMinarMinaret.Thetower gradually decreases in the thickness from the bottom to top. The base of the QutabMinar is 14.32 m and the top is 2.75 m.To complete the Construction of the QutabMinar it took 20 years. The shape of the QutabMinar is round and the art of the Indian reflects on the building of the Minaret. The glimpseofQutabMinar is marvelous it is the centre of attraction of the tourists.

By Metro

The easiest way to visit QutabMinar is metro for the Delhi people. Bus service is also available easily to reach at QutabMinar. It is well connected to all the parts of Delhi.There are private buses, cars taxis and auto rickshaws through which one can visit at QutabMinareasily. There are DTC buses also available which provide the service and as well as Delhi Tourism provide the service for the tourists Delhi Darshan Day tours and they take the tourist at QutubMinar also.

Iron Pillar

Quwwatu'l-Islam popular iron pillar is placed in the courtyard of the QutubMinarminaret . The pillar is made in the 4th century and there are some sentences in Sanskrit language in Gupta script which increase the beauty of the pillar. It is known that if people wish to hold this pillar with your hands on the back then the wish will be fulfilled.

Quwwatu'l-Islam Masjid

It is known that Quwwatu'l-Islam Masjid is the first masid in India. This masjid is located in the QutabMinar complex. It is known that the material which has been used to build the masjid has been taken from the temple of Hindus. The information is that temple had been destroying during the era of muslim rule.

Alai Minar

Alai Minar is built to increase the place of a Quwwatu'l-Islam Masjid byAlauddinKhalji but the Al AlauddinKhalji has been expired before completing it.

Alai Darwaza

The gate of the Quwwatu'l-Islam mosquein the direction of southis called Ala-i-Darwaza. Ala-ud-Din Khalji made this door bigger for the purpose of cover a large area.

Tomb of Iltutmish

In 1235 AD, Shamsu'd-Din Iltutmish, son-in-law and successor of Qutub-ud-din Aibak built this tomb which located in the direction of north-west of Quwwatu'l Islam Mosque.

The Light Show

The light show is one of the best events which have been organized in Qutabminar.Theworth of the ticket is different for the people. The worth of the ticket for the Indian is 20 bucks and for the foreigners for 250 bucks. And the show of the timing is 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm.

A view from top

The view has been shown to the tourist by the camera on the top of the Qutabminar .Thecharges has been taken 10 bucks in the day.

Weather and Best Time to Visit

Summers: This season lasts from the month of March to June. The temperature rises up to 47°C. Tourists hardly visit Delhi due to scorching heat of the sun in summers.

Winter: from December to February lies the winter season. The temperature drops down to 1°C during winters. The month of January is very foggy and the traffic is disturbed due to heavy fog.
Monsoons: From July to September the heavy rain is experienced in Delhi. The gardens become lavished green during the monsoons.

The best time to visit Delhi is from the month of July to February. It is advisable not to visit during high winter time as the flights and trains are also dismissed due to heavy fog. The ideal time is from October to December for sightseeing all over the city. Weather in February and March is also very pleasant.
