The Kangla Fort of Manipur was to be found on both edges (western as well as eastern) of the Imphal River. At the present it persists simply on the western part of the bank. History

Kangla is the very imperative sequential location of Manipur. The empire of Manipur was recognized and urbanized at Kangla. It is believed that the ruler exhumed a moat (Thangapat) on the western part of the fortress. Throughout his phase, the authority and reputation of Manipur was on its top. Burmese rulers/chiefs convinced him to resolve their arguments and request to handover of Manipuri princesses. The fortress was more enhanced and distended via Ruler Garibaniwaz and following him via consecutive rulers of Manipur.

As the supremacy of Maharaja Bhagyachandra (1762 to 1798 AD), owed to frequent incursion through the Burmese, Kangla was abandoned numerous times. Ruins of The Citadel

Cheitharol Kumbaba, the majestic history, reports the creation of the castle in the year of 1611 AD, i.e. throughout the supremacy of Ruler Khagemba (1597 - 1652 AD). The 20ft. elevated castle is build of well-burnt bricks. Several holy spaces, counting the coronation place of Pakhangba, were sited inside the area of the castle. The castle area had three gates, two on the west face and one on the south face. Ruins of The Uttra

Temple of Shree - Shree Govindajee

The idols (murtis) of Radha Govinda were spoiled when portions of the temple distorted in the quake (Cheitharol Kumbaba, p. 375).
