Gangtok city of state Sikkim in India has Dro-dul Chorten, which is a stupa. The stupa was constructed by Trulshik Rinpoche, chief of the Tibetan Buddhism order Nyingma in nineteen forty five. Within this stupa, a whole set of Dorjee Phurba, Kangyur leftovers (Sacred Books) & other religious articles are there. In the region of the stupa there are one hundred and eight Mani Lhakor or wish wheels. The stupa is bounded with Chorten Lakahang & Guru Lakhang and 2 figurines of Guru Rinpoche are available here.

Do-Drul Chorten hold the complete 'Mandala' group of 'Dorjee Phurba' (Bajra Kilaya), 1 group of 'Ka-gyur', packed 'zung' (mantras), leftovers & various religious articles. Nearby of this 'chorten', around one hundred and eight 'Mani-Lhakor' (Prayer Wheels) is there. In fact, rotating of these wheels means that individual has to recite the mantras imprinted on Wheels. During rotating the wheels, it is whispered "hail to the jewel in the lotus". This is verbal to call 'Bodhisattva'.

The famed Do Drul Chorten consists of gold coated spire. The Chorten is enclosed by Chorten Lhakhang & Guru Lhakhang which show off the 2 huge figures of Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava). Architecture

By Air

Bagdogra close to Siliguri is the nearest airport and at around 124km expanse from Gangtok. About 2000Rs taxi charge is there from airport to Gangtok. Airport is linked to Kolkata, Delhi & Guwahati. Worldwide travelers may find linking flights starting Kolkata or Delhi which are well linked to several Indian cities & overseas.

Only one time everyday Helicopter facility is accessible from Bagdogra to Gangtok. One way trip may take around 20 minutes.

By Rail

Weather and Best Time to Visit

Gangtok has a gentle, temperate weather around the year. Maximum Temperature is average 22°C during summer (March to June month) and average lowest is 4°C during winter in December to February months. Maximum temperature in summer seldom goes more than 25°C. Strong rainfalls during monsoon (July to September months) reasons landslides in this area. Maximum rainfalls will be in July.

September to June is ideal time to visit.
