The Bahamani Tombs are located at Ashtur in the Bidar. These tombs were also easily reached via the road to the general hospital and also one can reach the eight Bahamani tombs through the Dulhan Gateway at the Ashtur.

The interior of the tombs were decorated with paintings. The walls of these tombs are decorated with the granite carving, gold and various different colors that show the medieval art of the Muslim.

History

Allauddin Hassan is a man that has poor origin in the memory of his patron who is a Brahmin assumed the Gangu Bahamani name. Bahamani Dynasty was found by him and he ruled over it having the name of Bahaman Shah. This Sultanate of Bahamni was in a war with Vijayanagara Empire constantly which is its south side neighbor.

Bahamani history got the foot print of Firuz Shah Bahamani. He has vast knowledge of natural science and various religions. He also made efforts to grow the Deccan region as cultural hub in India. He extends the Warangal territories and also he had a war against the Vijayanagar Empire. Later on he transferred his whole kingdom to Ahmed Shah I who is a brother.

Agriculture is the main source of economy during that time in Bahamani Kingdom.

Bahamani Sultanate is divided into 2 poles that are Afaquis (newcomers) and Deccanis (oldcomers). They also got divided on the basis of their opinions. The kingdom of Bahamani was mainly expanded by the minister of Bahamani Empire named Mahmud Gawan. He got difficulty in getting confidence of the Deccanis as he was categorized as Afaqui. Later on he was executed for policies in the year 1482 by the Muhammad Shah of Deccanis at his age of 70s that made complications between the Afaquis and Deccanis.

Architecture

The Bahamani Sultans were very interested in building the large sepulchers. About 4 kms of distance, various Mausoleums were present at Ashtoor in the East of Bidar. It is must to visit the Ashtoor before visiting Bidar. There were 12 tombs in the one row that make these tombs very attractive. Many beautiful structures like niches, arches and lofty domes were present. The most famous Ahamad Shah-al-Wali tomb is very popular for the written verses on its wall with a gold color on the darkest background. The interior of the tomb is finishing with the beautiful paintings. For ornamentation in the mausoleum, the symbol of swastika is used. The artistic skills were shown in the paintings made of colorful contrast in this tomb. A festival of Urus (Jatra) is made here each year, which is very popular in both Muslims and Hindus. With the combination of tile panels and arches with black stone, the tomb of Sultan Allauddin-Shah II was made that made it very attractive. There were more tombs were present that are made of trap masonry. In the tombs, stucco work is used to beautify the arches.

How to Reach

To reach the Bahamani tombs, one can go through the road that is opposite to the general hospital towards the Dulhan Gateway in Ashtur. These tombs were located in the Ashtur in the Bidar.

These Badami caves were built as cliff face cut of the red stone hills and is also more popular for its cave temple. These caves showed the religious sects development in India.

Bidar Fort

At the distance of 110 km in the region of north-west of Hyderabad and 40 km in the region of north-east of Gulbarga, there present a Bidar fort. This fort was built with a raised natural bluff from the plain as described by the historian Simon Digby. Bidar was mainly the capital of the kingdom of Bahmani from the year 1428 to 1489.

The best time to visit these tombs is the early hours of a day as there is lightening present here at this time.
