Sikkim Lingdum Monastery
Buddhist Monks come to the Lingdum Monastery to meditate and one can see on the back side of the monastery, a big hall, with a prayer hall and paving way to the entrance gate.

This monastery is around 10 years old, and has come up in Zurmang Kagyud lines, which is a traditional Buddhist culture. It was Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche who has come as the 12th successor in the hierarchy that this monastery was designed
Description
It is a wonder scene to see the monks sitting in a row and murmuring he scriptures. Now and then they beat on a large drum with their cymbals and this produces a novel musical sound in and around the hall. A wonder artistic item to be seen is the Buddha placed at the hall’s end site, which is huge in its stature and five meters tall, and the glittering finishing is something one should enjoy and see. It looks so real with and excellent facial expression, and with a life size hand, that its expressions leads one to go ahead with a meditational thoughts. This statue is said to be one made in Kathmandu by Shakya craftsmen who hold their hands on all artistic creations in Himalayan region and assembled at Lingdum.
The upper part of the chapel is wonderfully painted and decorated and the terrace holds the ceremonial parasols which are adored with beautiful designs and Sanskrit mantras in Newar Script. It is prominent to see that some sayings like “Om Mani Padme Hum” and “Om Bajrasatwa Hum” inscribed on the walls and other places, Young Lamas who sit cross legged on cushions recite their lessons, and we will get an wonderful experience hearing to their energy filled voices which is also monitored through by a master, as to whether they are true to their prayers. This monastery has more than 300 monks, and we can see a Rinpoche to guide when we visit this monastery. These monks get up at 4 AM and go ahead with their regular prayers in a routine manner.

How to Reach
This monastery is around 20 kms away from Gangtok where one can reach comfortably through flight or train from any important cities in India. Once you reach Sikkim, it is easy to visit this monastery since many tourist packages, cabs and buses are available for travel.
