Sikkim Lachen Monastery
Lachen Monastery which is at an altitude of 2750 m will take around 6 hours from Gangtok. It is situated above the Village purview gives an overall airy view of the place with the nearby hills and other areas looking just fabulous to watch the nature’s scenes.

To describe more about the place, we can add to say that the third highest mountain of the world, Kangchendzonga is the most attracted place of this area and it is believed that Lachen was placed on the Heart of the Goddess Domai Rhee, was instrumental in her feeding the entire Lachen village personnel, resulting in its continuous water supply.
Description
One of the famous activities here is the manufacture of Yak and Sheep Wool. This monastery was built in 1844 in the order of Nyingmapa, and visitors can go to the Apple Orchards and large field areas.  This is placed in the Northern part of Sikkim and is in existence since 1906 with Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism as its race.
People have vegetation as Rick and Potato and also different types of noodles, bread made locally, Corns and momos and thus their basic food items are quite tasty. Losoong is a big facility celebrated and Bhutia is to represent the ending of harvest season of Tibetan year. Dance viz Chaams in the monasteries are performed along with kagyed dance and a grand feast is arranged which comes up during December every year. Yak race and archery competition are very famous here.

One can visit the other important monasteries located nearby viz Thikse, Likir, Korzok, Alchi, Diskit, Lamayuru, Rumtek, Tashiding, Rizong and Shey Monasteries which one can conveniently visit in a row.
How to Reach the Monastery
One can reach the place through buses as also rented cars which is available within the Sikkim state range. However, people from outside area of the Sikkim one has to choose flights and also train journey reaching the nearest Airport or Railway Station ad thus take a journey to Lachen comfortably. Flights are taken to Siliguri which is connected to all major Indian Cities.
