Jammu & Kashmir Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery
Karma DupgyudChoeling Monastery is a famous Buddhist establishment in Ladakh, 9 km away from Leh, and it is one of the Buddhist monasteries conducted by Tibetan sect of Karmapa. The term Karmapa implies that this is a sect which is the embodiment of all Buddhist activities, also conveying another meaning that this has come out of Buddha activity.
There are seventeen Karmapa sects existing as of today. This monastery in Ladakh is well respected as its propagates the values of Buddhism of Tibet and keen in preserving Buddist tradition.
Description
Buddhist monasteries and Gompas are places of worship and meditation by people who follow Buddhist faith, while Monasteries will have residential accommodation for the for the members of the particular religious settlement, Gompas would be just a prayer or meditation hall where Monks or Anis would sit around the Image of Lord Buddha and do meditation.
While Monasteries will be accommodating Buddhist monks, AniGompas are intended for female participants of the faith, Brahma-dung-chungAniGompa is one such settlement

How to Reach
For reaching Leh by train , one can travel upto the nearest Jammu railway station, which is about 734 km far.
A bus from Manali , which is in 453 km distance from Leh would be a good choice, however, the Manali - Leh road is not open throughout the year, although one can take the bus during the months from mid-June to mid-October, when the road will be open.
There are air services available to Leh from Delhi and also from Srinagar , different airlines offering services.
JKSRTC provides bus service to Leh from Srinagar to Leh covering 700 km, sometimes taking two days travel time, while HRTC provides service to Leh from Manali , covering 474 km distance , which also takes about 20 hours travel.
