Himachal Pradesh Lippa Monastery
Lippa monastery has been considered as one of the main center of Buddhism. This monastery is located in Kinnour district of Himachal Pradesh state of India. The place where this monastery is situated is Jangi. This village is very beautiful and located at an average altitudinal height of 2438 meters from MSL (Mean Sea Level). In this Gompa there are three temples located. All the three temples are named as “Goldang Chakodar, Kangyur and Tangyur”. Taiti stream is located at a close vicinity to this monastery. Another specialty of this area is that grass of the village is scientifically proven healthier and nutritious for animals. The quadruped found in this village especially, cows and buffaloes are very healthy. Ibex is also found wandering in this area.
History
Lippa monastery was founded by the king of that region Lama Dev Verma. The construction was started by the king but completion done by his son. Dev Verma was an astrologer and his fame was well spread in the area. During Jun 1742, Devverma dreamt that a collection of temples should be made in the area and when he explained his dram to the fellows, the suggested him to built a monastery from where the Buddhism can be spread in the areas. From very next day the construction begun but after nine months, Dev Verma dies of a chronic disease and remaining portions of the monastery completed by his son. Rajyaverma. He was also a great follower of Buddhism but he could not be given the title of Lama. Finally this monastery was completed in all respect in August 1744. All the three temples were built at the time of construction of this monastery.

Jangi Monastery is located in close vicinity of this monastery. Kinnour district has four different monasteries and all are of religious importance.
Old Wildlife Sanctuary
A wildlife sanctuary is also located in the nearby surroundings of this monastery. This sanctuary is also named after a local deity Tangtashu.
Chango Monastery
In the Chango village of Kinnour district, another monastery is also located. Chango monastery is considered as the oldest center of expansion of Buddhism in the surrounding area. This monastery was established by Padmasambhava.
Kinnour Valley
This district shares the border of Indian and Tibet, though, Tibet is not an internationally accepted cou8ntry but still the passes to China and Tibet are located in this district. Though, this valley is not much important as other valleys in the Himachal Pradesh due to connectivity problems. In this district, more than 33 Buddh Temples are located and a well place for visitors.

Lippa Monastery can be accessed by using three transportation ways.
By Air
To reach at this location by air, one will have to de-board at Jubbar Hatti airport located at Shimla. This is approximately 244 kilometers away from this monastery.
By Rail
Nearest railway station is also Shimla. From this station, road transports are available. From Lower parts of the country Shimla can be reached through train very easily. Shimla station is equipped with all the amenities required by a traveler.
By Road
national Highway Number – 22 connects Kinnour from other parts of the state. Tourist taxies and cars are easily available from Shimla and other places to reach this monastery. Himachal state road transport corporations also provide its bus service. Total distance from Shimla to this monastery is 258 kilometers.
