Description
KhinmeyGonpa is known for the lifestyle of the people here, who are engaged in farming and agriculture , producing lot of common produces like rice, millet, maize, pulses, ginger, sugarcane and many kinds of oilseeds. There are variety of craftsmen live here, a visitor enjoying the village life habits without compromising any of the living comforts. The dress code of men and women are also different and peculiar, but pleasing. People speak here mostly Assamese language, while Adi and Tani languages too prevail. For the visitors, English, Hindi and Deori languages will help.
Tawang city is the nearest place where the famous Buddhist Gompa of Arunachal Pradesh , Tawang Monastery, which is an ancient Buddhist monastery , exists.

KhinmeyGonpa which is located in Tawangmandal has the panoramic view of lakes and mountains, besides the visit to Tawang Monastery will be a thrilling experience to the tourists. This monastery is considered the second oldest in the entire universe, the first being the one at Lhasa, and it controls about 17 monasteries in the region. Tawang monastery is also called Golden NamgyalLhatse and Buddhist Gompa in general.

The lakes here are considered sacred and they bear enormous heritage and history. The famous lakes in this region include PangangTengTso Lake, Banga Jang Lake and Shongatser Lake. The peaks around have equal importance of heritage, which are Ghesila Range, Gorichen Peak and a few others, which give enormous pleasure for tourists who do trekking or rock climbing.
Another item of tourist interest here is the water falls, particularly, the ones in Tawang calledBongBong and Teng Kang are admired by every visitor.

Festival
The Buddhism advocates mostly ritualistic observations and meditation programmes. However there are some festivals, such as Chaam festival held in Monasteries around this place every year. In such festivals Buddhist monks would dress up as mythological characters and dance for the enlightenment of the devotees.
The TawangMonastery , nearer KhinmeyGonpa, celebrates a famous festival called Torgva festival, which is conducted in the eleventh Monpa month of Buddhist calendar, DawaChukchipah, which comes in Dec-Jan period.

Road: Public transport provided by Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Corporation provides facility for one to reach Tawang by road, which runs regular bus-services to various places in Arunachal Pradesh. There are long distance bus services to Itanagarfrom Guwahati, every day, which is about 429 km travel.
