Dhule is situated in the Maharashtra state of India. The city boasts itself as one of the few planned cities before independence of India. Dhule district is a part of Maharashtra’s historical region of Khandesh and for administrative purpose; it is clubbed to Nasik Region.

The major occupation of people in Dhule is Agriculture. Apart from wheat, bajra, jowar, onion the most favored commercial crop is cotton. The total area of Dhule district area is 8063 sqkms and the total population is 1,707,947 people.

Dhule is further subdivided into two sub divisions and four talukas. It has five Vidhan Sabha constituencies namely Sakri (ST), Shirpur, Sindkheda, Kusumba and Dhule out of which Dhule being the only Lok Sabha constituency.

Dhule also marks its presence in the educational industry, the city witnesses’ huge number of educational institutions some of the famous ones amongst them are SSVPS College of Engineering and Polytechnic, SES College of Engineering, Shri Bhausaheb Hire Government Medical College, College of Agriculture, Dhule, St. Xavier's Canossa Convent High School, and JR City High School.

Dhule also has a significant share in the industrial development for instance Suzlon Energy, which is one of the largest wind power companies in the world, is presently developing a wind park site near Dhule.
