West Bengal Senchal Lake
Towards the south east side of Darjeeling about 10 km there is a lake that is popular as Senchal lake. This lake is basically utilized for the potable water of the Darjeeling town in India. The altitude on which this lake is situated is about 8,160 ft (2,487 m) on the top of the hill. There is also the golf course on this hill which is the highest of the world. This lake is one of the famous picnic spot for the tourists. There is also a tourist lodge that is being used by the visitors for accommodation. This lake forms the part of the famous sanctuary known as Senchal Wildlife Santuary.
For the purpose of visiting the area of Senchal one has to buy the ticket from the office of the Ranger situated as Jore bunglow. During the monsoon period the lake as well as the sanctuary remains closed and get opened after 15th of September.
In case any one wants to move for the picnic for one day and wants the lake that is being surrounded by the hills and mountains from all the sides that he must visit this Senchal lake as well as the Senchal centaury.

Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary
In 1915 this Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary named as Senchal Sanctuary was established in the District Darjeeling of the State of West Bengal in India. Among all the sanctuaries of India this is the oldest one. The total area covered by this sanctuary is about 38.60 sq km. The elevations of this sanctuary varies from 1500 - 2600 m. Certain animal of High-altitudes such as Wild pig, barking deer, Himalayan Dear(Black), jungle cat, leopard, monkeys, Assam macaque, Himalaya flying squirrel etc can be seen here in their original habitats. A variety of bird’s species can also be seen here in this sanctuary. The 2 lakes of Senchal are the main source of water supply to the Darjeeling town.
Ghum Monastery
Ghoom Monastery or Ghum Monastery is situated at the hight of about 8000 feet from the sea level and about 8 km distance from the Darjeeling town in the West Bengal State of India. This is the other name of the famous Monastery of Yiga Choeling situated at Ghum. This monastery is the follower of the Tibetan Buddhism’s school named as Gelug School. In this monastery one can also see a very high statue of about 15 feet of "Maitreya Buddha" that is the coming Buddha. A variety of images can also be found here such as images of Chenrezi, Chongapa and the disciples of Buddha. This is one of the largest Monastery of Ghum that was constructed in 1875 by Lama SherabGyats. Out of all the texts of Buddhists some texts that can be seen here are the cannon of Tibetan Buddhist that has 108 volumes, the Kangyur. As per the Tibetan traditions the monks use to fly the flags of prayer in air.
Garg World Amusement Park
The Garg world Amusement Park is situated on the Ghum-Sukhiapokri Road at a very high altitude of about 700 feet from the sea level. This park is situated between stunning hills of the Darjeeling station of the state of West Bengal. This Amusement park has several points of attractions that pull the tourists and the kids towards its enchanting beauty where they can feel the beauty of nature. There are also magnificent and the scenic views of the Valley of Balsan as well the mountains beyond it.
How to Reach
The area of Senchal is situated towards the south east of Darjeeling town. A narrow road named as old Military Road is available from Jorebunglow to this Senchal Lake. The distance of this lake is about 3 kilo meters from Ghum. The exact distance of this lake from Darjeeling is approximately about 11 kilo meters and the time taken for travelling by car is about 40 min to reach there. It is advised that one must hire a cab to reach there as there is the problem for the returning transport facility.
