West Bengal Rasikbil
This lake of Rasikbil is located in the district of Cooch Behar in the West Bengal, India. A different species of birds had their nests in the trees standing nearby this lake.
Flora and Fauna
Around this lake, there were lots of varieties of birds that lived around this lake and these species are parrots, owl, spoonbill, cormorants, and many more. At the lake side, there is rehabilitation center for the crocodile and also there is a deer park located. Also there available are tortoise center of rescue, Aviary, leopard house, and also a python house. Some of the water birds available around the lake of Rasikbil are named as Grey headed Lapwing, Red Crested Pochard, Whistling Teal, Pied Kingfisher, Little Cormorant, stork billed Kingfisher, Northern Lapwing, Common Teal, Red crested pochard, Large Cormorant, Gadwall, and Little Cormorant, Shoveler, and Pintail Wigeon duck etc.
Attractions
Rasikbil is the lake where tourists found all migratory and local birds to watch. This lake is known to be the main spot of eco-tourist that is about one and half hour far from the town of Alipurduar. Around this lake of Rasikbil, there is an anvifauna area that is the basic center of attraction. Along with that there are other centers of attraction for visitors like tortoise rescue center, deer park, large aquarium, rehabilitation center for crocodile, and other also. Also there is a provision of boating in the lake of Rasikbil.
Nearby the Rasikbil, visitors also get some other destinations to watch like reserve center of Buxa Tiger. There is located a Coochbehar area in which tiger reserve area available just 45 km distance from this lake. In the history of India, role of Cooch Behar is very important. This town of Cooachbehar is basically a capital of the Kingdom of Cooch. In the Cooch Behar, there were also constructions of heritage there. Some of famous constructions are Madanmohan Temple and Coochbehar Rajbari.
How to Reach
By Road
Over the link of Alipurduar and Coochbehar, the Siliguri and Guwahati were linked by the national highway no. 31. But Siliguri is not approachable directly. So one has to make their journey with a pause. To reach the Coochbehar or Alipurduar, there were transport services available like private buses, taxis, North Bengal transport buses, and Bhutan buses etc. After this, one can take the mini bus from the Rampurhat-Coochbehar to reach the Rasikbil lake via the route of Toofanganj in the time of 2 hours. From the Alipurduar, buses are also available. Via the route of Kamakshaguri, one can reach the Rasikbil lake also.
By Rail
Kamashkhaguri is the nearby railway station to reach the Rasikbil. It is about the distance of 6 km from the lake of Rasikbil. The trains going from Guwahati to Kolkata and towards the major cities have also stoppage at Kamashkhaguri. In this area, the major railway stations are of Siliguri and Jalpaiguri station. One can continue their journey via road after arriving at Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri to reach the Rasikbil. Another station of rail near the Rasikbil is of Coochbehar.
By Air
Bagdogra is the nearby domestic airport. This airport has all air services from other cities of India. There is about 13 km of distance among Siliguri and Bagdogra. Following the route for Rasikbil, one can also query about the vehicles came to Siliguri.
