Uttarakhand Dodital
At about the height of about 3024 meters there is a beautiful lake of freshwater that is situated in Uttarakhand state of India is the Dodital. In case one wants to reach this Dodital than he has to first reach to Uttarkashi by way of road and then he has to reach Dodital by walking through Bewara and some other small villages that are situated by the side of the Ganges River. There are various kinds of views that are offered by this lake such as impenetrable forest, awesome views of the panoramic Himalayas, Darwin Top, Diversified Fauna and flora. This place can be considered on of the amazing places to be visited for enjoyment. This Tal was basically originated from the natural spring named as ‘Asi Ganga’.
History
As per the famous mythology it is a myth that this place was chosen by Lord Ganesha as his abode in ancient times. A temple that is devoted for Lord Ganesha is situated here. This tal is also popular by other name also that is 'Dhundital' which means Ganesha’s Lake of Ganesh ka tal.
Attractions
This tal is very stunning lake that is having the impenetrable forests of Oak, rhododendron and fir around it. The shape of this lake is just like a Hexagon and is the habitat of the golden trout from which the name of this lake has been derived. In local language the workd Dodhi means trout. According to the records of the Puranas it has been said that this lake has the holy significance. Near about 80 rivulets are there that are being formed by this lake and merges with each other forming ‘Assi Ganga’ on the bases of which this valley is named as Assi Ganga valley. According to local language 80 is the meaning of Assi. Gangotri is the junction of the Bhagirathi and the Assi Ganga.
The other place that can be visited near Dodital is the Darwa Top. Some other place besides this are like Barkot, Gangnani, Bhojbasa Dayara Bugyal, Gangotri, Har ki doon etc.
How to Reach
Kathgodam is the nearest railway station of the broad guaze in the North Eastern Railways that is about 35 km from this Tal and connecting Delhi, Howrah and Dehradun. It is also connected by way of National High way to Dehradun, Agra, Delhi, Haridwar, Lucknow, Bareilly and Kanpur. The airport that is nearest to this lake is about the distance of 70 km.
