Uttar Pradesh Keetham Lake
Keetham lake is a picturesque beauty of nature in the form of silent flows. This lake is situated in the vicinity of Agra at national highway 2, which is Agra - Delhi highway. It is also known as Sur Sarovar and has a serene environment, which provides peace and relaxing effects on visiting this lake site. This lake holds a vast array of aquatic creatures and fishes along with different types of water birds as well. These living species appends additional charm and beauty to this place. In a way to initiate and preserve these water birds, Uttar Pradesh forest department has crafted shallows and woodlands to provide a natural habitat and nesting area. This lake is embanked in the area of 7.3 square kilometers. This lake also consists of artificial islands, as a breeding and shelter ground for migratory birds.
History
due to being a residing place for migratory birds and having an ideal natural climatic condition for them as well, this lake has been announced as a national bird sanctuary in the year of 1991, March 07. Keetham Lake is surrounded by riverside belt of river Yamuna and is also linked with rail tracks of keetham. This lake has been taken good care in last couple of decades and especially after declaring it a national bird sanctuary. It has been developed by forest department of Uttar Pradesh in means to make it more useful for migratory birds and visitors as well, so that everyone can come to know about these birds.

Secondly, it calls a huge attraction of tourists and visitors of local entity to come and enjoy the natural climate along with the exquisiteness of migratory birds as an additional feature of this place. Visitors of keetham lake experience visual charms of rare species migratory birds like, cormorants, grey heron, paddy birds, purple heron, gerbs, black neck stork, spon bill, bar headed goose and many more. This national bird sanctuary enfolds more than one hundred six species with its vicinity with suitable climatic conditions to them.
People can also enjoy boating experiences in this beautiful lake of keetham in between the rare migratory species of birds and due to this many of the tourists come to reside here for long duration of time. However, some of the other tourist and other spots are also present at its nearby areas, which also fascinate more and more people to come and experience them collectively in a single trip. Mariyam’s tomb is a place of interest, situated at nearby distance from keetham lake, which is famous for its architecture, made up of red sandstone. This tomb is made by Emperor Akbar in the memory of his beloved wife – Mariyam Zamani. Sikandra is another reason to get this place; it is a burial chamber of sovereign Akbar. This is a unique structure which enfolds the blend of two architectural cultures – Hindu and Muslims. Most of the visitors, who came to see world’s most famous creation and architecture Taj Mahal, use to come and see this lake of keetham and bird sanctuary and do not found themselves to resist from visiting this place.
How To Reach
Keetham Lake is situated at the distance of twenty kilometer from agara city and near about twelve kilometers from sikandra. One can choose the option of local transportation as they use to move on continuous basis. If anyone wants to have a personal transportation it can also be attained with various travel agencies available there with very fair prices and under tour packages as well.
