Rajasthan Uday Sagar Lake
Uday Sagar Lake has been built by Maharana Udai Singh in 1559 to supply water to the citizens of Udaipur. It has been constructed with a dam in River Berach and thus diverting water to this lake.
History
This lake and its shores have significant roles in history. In other words, these areas witnessed many events in history. As mentioned earlier, it has been constructed in 1559. In 1573, Maharana Pratap Singh was invited to the banks of this lake by Kunwar Man Singh. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the terms and conditions for Pratap Singh to surrender before Emperor Akbar. However Pratap Singh rejected the invitation and this resulted in the Haldighatti War in 1576. Later, Maharana Raj Singh defeated the mogul army on the banks of this lake to recapture his kingdom.
