History
As per the history of Nakki Lake, it is regarded as an old sacred Lake in accordance with the Hindu legend. The Nakki lake is called so due to the reason that it got dug out from Nails or Nakh. Some people believe that it was dug by Gods for living in to protect them from theBashkali rakshash (a wicked demon). There is another story of Rasiya Balam who dug the lake within a night to marry the daughter of the king there. But later on it could not be possible as the wife of the king refused this proposal.
At this same place, the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi got immersed in the Holy Lake, Nakki on 12th February 1948 and so there is a Gandhi Ghat constructed there.
