Andhra Pradesh Hussain Sagar
Hussain Sagar is one of the famous lakes in India.It was constructed during the reign of Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali.The construction year of this lake was 1562.At that time, Ibrahim Qutub Quli Shah was ruling the Hyderabad state.This river is spread in 5.7 sqkm area and constructed on the River Musi.Earlier it was also the source of irrigation for the farmers but in present time the water from this lake is being provided to the population for drinking after due filtration.During the end of the 1922, a large statue of Mahatma Buddh was also erected in the lake.The statue of Lord Buddhha is Monolithic.On the bank of this lake, a grand Mosque and the Tomb of Sayyadani Maa is also situated.
History
The lake Hussain Sagar was one of the famous constructions of 19th century.This lake was named on Hazrat Hussaain Shah Wali, with whose held the ruler of that time Ibrahim Qutub Quli Shah recovered from long illness. This lake is like a link between the two famous cities of Andhra Pradesh Hyderabad and Secunderabad.The lake is constructed over River Musi.Around the lake, there are several picnic and entertaining spots available.This lake is also famous by the name of Tank Bund. The story behi9nd this name is after Indo Pak war, Patton tank of Pak army was captured and displayed here as war memorial. Since then, the local public started calling this place as a Tank is Bund (arrested) here. In the history of this lake, the name Tank Bund is being used like a synonym to Hussain Sagar. Earlier, this spot was defamed for regularly done suicide cases. But in last some decades, this activity is decreased up to a satisfactory level. This decline has come up owing to the changing water status of the lake. Though, some cases are repeated in present days too. Some days ago, the statues of various personalities are erected in the mid of this lake but the debris of all of the statues are remaining today.
Attractioins
Pakistani Patton Tank : During war with Pakistan in 1971, a Patton Tank of Pak Army was captured by the Infantry Battalion of India and resulted in a gift to the division as war Trophy, is displayed near the lake. This is one of the attractions around Hussain Sagar.
Lumbini Park: The famous and beautiful park, is also located near the lake. This park has a good looking musical fountain. A famous and attractive architecture of Birla Mandir is also near the Lumbini Park. During night, the lake has an amazing look like a necklace.
Masjid and tomb of Saidani Maa Saheba
ASI has announced the Sayyadani Maa Tomb as heritage site as the same has historical importance and fine architecture. Beautiful carving inside the Dargah is sufficient enough to attract the visitors. Saidaani Maa was a saint during the reign of Nizam Hyderabad. This place has a religious importance among Muslims as well as in other communities too.
Buddha Statue
Buddha statue is also one of the major attractions of this site. At the center of lake, a very tall statue of Lord Budha is standing. This statue is having resemblance of Chinese architecture and statue making style. Height of this statue is eighteen meters. Construction of this statue was completed in two years as more than 200 sculptures are carved on it.
How to Reach
APSRTC conducts a dedicated bus service from various parts of the state to reach Hussain Sagar.This lake site is also connected with the train services as Necklace Road and Sanjeevaiah Park are the main stations in the route of this lake.
