Thiruvananthapuram, which means “abode of Lord AnanthaPadmanabha”, is the state capital of Kerala. Located at the west coast that covers the southernmost part of India, this city is hub for all major political associations. Thiruvananthapuram is considered as one of the planned cities of India. Mahatma Gandhi referred this city as “Evergreen city of India”, and rightly so due to hills and commercial alleys.

There are many state and central government organizations and offices in this city. Thiruvananthapuram also houses many academic institutions apart from it being the political hub of Kerala state. Educational institutions include University of Kerala and many other science and technology institutes.

Thiruvananthapuram is blessed with a wonderful cool climate almost throughout the year, and the city receives a lot of rains. This helps in lowering the temperature during peak summers and to keep a moderate climate during other seasons.
