Pathanamthitta district, also known as ‘Pilgrimage capital of state of Kerala’, is one of the youngest formed districts of Kerala, located at the southern part. It is one of the largest towns. Pathanamthitta is also developing fast and has many business centres. The villages are widely diversified and prove to open up opportunities of development of cultural, economical and healthcare facilities. Also, a great place to develop adventure and tourism during monsoon.

One of the sacred Hindu pilgrimage centres, Sabarimala is located here. The temple of deityDharmashastha is situated in the forest of Sabarimala in the Western Ghats. Sabarimala is considered one of the holiest places in India and every year, millions of devotees throng to this temple to offer their prayers. The main religions followed here are Hinduism and Christianity. This district adds as an attraction for the tourists and wildlife enthusiasts as three rivers flow through this district and forests that double up as tiger reserves.

There are many Engineering colleges and medical colleges in this district. Astonishingly, Pathanamthitta was the first district to be declared as polio free district. Like other districts of Kerala, Pathanamthitta has a high literacy rate of 93%.
