Suheli Par Island
Suheli Par, an island in UT of Lakshadweep, India is based 52 kilometres away from the South West of Kavaratti. This is an oval shaped island which is encircled by rich marine fauna. The island has group of islands which comprises of two small islets called Suheli Cheriyakara and Suheli Valiyakara. These two islets are large, emerald and pristine green in colour.
Amid these two islets is a long stretch of thin sand bank which is called Suheli Pitti. This bank is often used as breeding region for different indigenous feathered animals. This bank becomes processing region for Tuna fish during months of October, November, December, January, February, March and April when the fishermen from neighbouring islands like Aggati put up their momentary settlements here.

- Suheli Pitti – Breeding destination of terns, this place is a long sandbank based between two beautiful islands.
- Cheriyakara – Based on South Eastern side of pristine lagoons and slightly smaller as compared to Valiyakara. The island is rich in coconut population. The fishermen make this island their temporary settlement from October to April. They stay here to catch tuna and earn their living for the rest of the year.
- Valiyakara – Another island based to the northern side of pristine and green lagoon, this island is rich in its original vegetation. Attractions of this island include unkempt coconut trees, turquoise water, silvery beaches etc. There is an old light house on this island too. Besides, you would see numerous hermit crabs around the beach here.
Climate of Suheli Par Island
Suheli Island has a pleasant, warm and tropical humid climate in most part of its territory. The climate here is equable and is defined as well marked season round the year. The monsoon season lasts from late May till early days of October. April and May are considered to be hottest months here where the mercury touches 35 degrees. The days are warm and humid but the nights are pleasant and cool.
The island is prone to storms and cyclones which frequently visit here, causing damage and havoc. From October to December, the island witnesses devastating storms which are followed by thunder and lightning.
Best Time to Visit Suheli Island
To carry back some cherished memories and have a memorable trip of Suheli Islands, visit during the months from September to May. During these months, the water sports are popular and active. It is considered ideal to visit the attractions around the island too.
How to Reach Suheli Par Island
Kochi links Suheli Par Island to other parts of India mainland. The nearby airport is Agatti where you can take helicopter and further a ferry to reach the island and other neighbouring attractions. The distance from Kochi to Agatti International Airport is 1 hr 30 mins. The flight services are open six days in a week.
