Nilgiri Korma
Brief Description
Nilgiri Korma is one of the best korma recipes. The recipe has its origin in the hill station of Tamil Nadu and the key to this recipe is coriander leaves, mint and coconut which gives it a little greenish brown shade and provides the korma mild sweet herby flavor. The usage of cardamom and aniseed (saunf) in the recipe add more flavor and fragrance to this delicious korma.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 30 mins Serves 4 Ingredients for Nilgiri Korma
- Mutton/lamb- 1lb
- Yogurt- 1 cup
- Grated coconut- 1 cup
- Green chilies- 6 (use according to taste)
- Coriander leaves- 1 bunch
- Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
- Khus Khus/poppy seeds- ½ tsp
- Red chilies- 2
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Garam masala- ½ tsp
- Sliced onions-2
- Oil- 1/2 cup
- Add salt according to taste
How to make Nilgiri Korma
- Firstly clean the mutton properly and then immerse it in yogurt for 30mins.
- Now using the grinder, start grinding together –ginger garlic paste, green chilies, coriander leaves, coconut, red chillies, poppy seeds, garam masala, coriander powder and half of the onions altogether.
- Now heat some oil and start frying the remaining onions.
- Now add the ground spices and keep frying it until the raw small is gone.
- Then add the marinated mutton along with some salt, water and yogurt.
- Now start cooking it at medium flame and do it until the meat is tendered.
Some Useful Tips
- It’s a lot easier to pressure cook this recipe and this saves a lot of time too.
