Murgh Saalan
Brief Description
Murgh Saalan Recipe can be prepared very easily. By following this simple method we will learn how to prepare Murgh saalan at home.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 25 mins Serves 4 Ingredients for Murgh Saalan
- 500gms of Chicken
- 6 Cloves
- 25gms of fresh ginger root
- 1 tsp of Red chili powder
- 2 tsp of Ground cumin
- 2 Bay leaves
- 2 tsp of Black cumin seeds
- 2 Cinnamon stick
- 50 gms of Creamed coconut
- 3 Garlic
- 6 Green cardamoms
- 1 large Onion
- 150 ml Plain yogurt
- 1 tsp of Turmeric powder
- 450 loaf of Water
How to make Murgh Saalan
- Firstly heat some oil in a heavy based pot and add this heated oil in the onions and start frying till it turns golden brown.
- Now stir in bay leaves, cloves, the cinnamon sticks, garlic, black cumin and cardamoms and fry it for about 2 minutes.
- Now add chicken and then fry it for few minutes till it changes a little color. Now stir in red chilli powder, turmeric powder, the ginger and cumin in it and then fry it for about 3 minutes. ( Add some water to avoid burning.)
- Now add in creamed coconut and the plain yogurt in the mixture and mix it well. Now cover it and cook it on medium flame for about 10 minutes till the moisture evaporates.
- Now when the oil start separating from the mixture, and start rising to the surface then stir in some water for shorva. Now mix it and cover it on low flame. Start cooking it gently for about 30 to 40 minutes till the chicken is properly cooked.
Some Useful Tips
If you are thinking of preparing garlic, fresh chilli and ginger pastes at home, then make sure you add tablespoon of canola/hot vegetable/ sunflower cooking oil to the paste and mix it well this will ensure a longer life for the paste prepared. Refrigerate and use it as per your requirement.
