Chili Chicken Karahi
Brief Description
Chili chicken karahi is a spicy dish. As name suggests this dish contains different kind of chilies and peppers. It is served in a small karahi (wok).
Preparation Time 25 mins Cooking Time 40-45 mins Serves 4-6 serves Ingredients for Chili Chicken Karahi
- Chicken breast- 500g
- Green chilies, slit- 4
- Oil to cook
- Salt as needed
- Chili powder- 1 tsp
- Ginger paste- 1 tsp
- Garlic paste- 2 tsp
- Coriander powder- 2 tsp
- Onion seeds- 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds, white- ½ tsp
- Lemon juice- 2 tbsp
- Chopped onions- 2
- Chopped tomatoes- 2
- Curry leaves- 5- 8
- Chopped coriander leaves- 3 tsbp
How to make Chili Chicken Karahi
- Marinate the chicken in garlic paste and lemon juice. Keep it aside for 20 min.
- Take 2 chilies and remove their seeds and fry them and rest of chilies in oil.
- Heat up a pan and pour some oil in it. Once oil is hot drop in cumin seeds, onion seeds and curry leaves and cook for 2 minutes. Add onions, garlic, ginger and remaining spices and cook for 4-5 minutes and make sure spices don’t get burned.
- Put in chicken and fry till it is golden brown. Toss in tomatoes and cook on high flames for a few minutes. Put the lid on and cook further for 10-12 minutes.
- It’s time to add fried chilies, coriander and remaining lemon juice and let it simmer for 5-6 minutes.
- Garnish with julienned ginger and lemons and serve hot.

Some Useful Tips
- To make sure your homemade chili, garlic and ginger paste stays fresh for long add a tbsp of hot vegetable/ sunflower/ canola oil into it and mix well. Keep them in refrigerator and use when necessary.
