Trade & Economic Relations Committee
The Trade & Economic Relations Committee was formed on 23 May, 2005. Prime Minister’s Office services this Committee.
The Charter
The Committee would engage in the following tasks:
- Suggest mechanisms for promoting economic cooperation through various arrangements such as Joint Study Groups, Task Forces, Negotiating Teams, etc.
- Suggest the extent and scope of economic engagement with the identified countries.
- Commission studies which would be valuable inputs in arriving at suitable decisions.
- Examine proposals for economic coordination between India and the identified countries.

Permanent invitees to the Committee meetings are The Secretaries of the Departments of Economic Affairs, Industrial Policy & Promotion as well as Secretary, Revenue, Planning Commission and Foreign Secretary and Commerce.
The Chairman may ask any other Minister/Officer to attend any Committee meeting based on the meeting context.Work Done by the Committee
