Indian Navy
India is a peninsular country having water on its three sides and land on one. It is well protected from north side mainly by Indian Army but the remaining three sides are under the control of Indian Navy, which safeguards the seashores of Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal from all three sides protecting borders and ports of the country.
Objectives of the Indian Navy
- Providing the national security to the marine borders along the three sides of the nation.
- Working with armed forces to maintain peace around ports and sea-shore of country.
- Giving required support during disasters and natural calamities and offering support and relief.
Organization and Commands
The entire organization of Indian Navy is divided into well controlled structured form which is well supported by the preplanned training and divided into operational divisions. To look after the three sides of the maritime borders and to keep the entire control over the operation it is divided as per territorial base. All three divisions of Indian Navy are under the control of the commanding officer of the rank Vice-Admiral. Also the western and eastern commands are commanded by fleet of two-stars.
The entire naval base is strengthened with the trained personnel serving from higher ranks to lower ranks which works successfully. Indian Navy has complete authority over the nautical boundaries and areas of the nation, which makes it difficult for the terrorist to attack from any of the three sides.

Combat Ships
The Indian Navy is well-equipped with highly refined and most advanced machinery and the powerful technology used in warfare. It has sophisticated weapons and the combat ships which are always ready to defend any attack from the enemies from any side of the border.The well trained and highly skilled man power is the strength of the Indian Navy.
Submarines
Being a peninsular country, Indian Navy needs to keep vigil on all the marine borders and ports which can be targeted by enemies. The highly technical tools and machinery are the parts of the safeguarding technology. The advanced submarines are the strength of Indian Navy which will be capable of protecting the nation’s interests.
Naval Air Arm
The naval air-arm is an important part of the Indian Navy. The Air Arm consists of set of Sea Harrier jets which operate from INS Viraat -the aircraft carrier and for better supervision purposes. The Indian Navy has four teams of Sagar Pawan which are the parts of aircraft aerobatic display.
Marine Commando Force
The Marine Commando Force (MCF) is also called as MARCOS. It is very specially trained force of Indian Navy since 1987 for highest security reasons and for fighting against the terrorist.
Recently, in Mumbai during the 26/11, it was the MARCOS who fought against terrorist and successfully rescued hostages.Future of Indian Navy
Indian Navy is spreading its operations over the years. It has the plans for expansion its service for providing better security to the nation. There will be increase of around 75 per cent in the present current budget of 2012–2013. The increase will definitely help in getting more advanced devices. Indian Navy is the real strength of Indian political, geographical and territorial strength which has powerful impact on its surrondings.
