UCO Bank
Formerly the United Commercial Bank, the present day UCO Bank was founded in the year 1943 with its headquarters in Calcutta (Kolkata). This bank is an oldest Indian commercial bank having gained so many accolades over the last few decades.
The idea of UCO Bank had been conceived by the eminent industrialist Ghanshyam Das Birla in the year 1942. The purpose of encouraging such banking system was to augur the Indian capital and management choices through a bank which concentrates on the Indian context.
It was on July 19, 1969 that the Government of India nationalized UCO Bank alongside 13 other major commercial banks of India. This bank was renamed as UCO Bank in the year 1985. The records until 2005 showed that this bank functions with the 2000 Service Units in various parts of the country besides its overseas branches in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Network of 1700 branches spread in all parts of India makes UCO Bank a prominent Indian bank today. Its two international branches have made the global presence of UCO Bank vivid.
