The present day Standard Chartered Bank PLC came into existence in the year 1969. It was a new banking initiative when the erstwhile banks – the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China merged with the Standard Bank of British South Africa in that year. The purpose of this merging was to lay the foundation stone of the present bank with global perspective.
