There are may state owned state owned road transport corporation buses that run between Sonamarg and Jammu and Kashmir. One can also choose to travel in luxurious buses available for the purpose of reaching Sonamarg. Buse can be availed fro both Jammu and Srinagar to reach Sonamarg.

Thajiwas Glacier
One of the Popular tourist attraction of Sonamarg is the Thajiwas glacier. The sight of Frozen Lakes, beautiful green waters and a journey through quite a number of adventurous roots is a life time experience. It is situated 3kilometers away from Sonamarg. Sledge riding is also an interesting option available here.
Zoji-La-Pass
It is Positioned at a height of 3528 meteres higher than the sea level around 20 kilometers east of Sonamarg. This pass links the Ladakh with Kashmir Valley.
Krishnasar Lake
Krishnasar Lake is a Stunning lake placed at a height of 3801 meteres higher than the Sea level. It offers a pleasant and cool atmosphere and dense alpines. Trout fishing is a very famous activity here with a number of other activities.
Baltal
It is situated 15 kilometers away from Sonamarg. With an altitude of 2743 metres Baltal is Amrnath Yatra’s Base camp. The holy cave is 14 kilometers away from Baltal .Baltal is located at the end of Zoji-la pass. It is a very pretty meadow.
Gangabal
One can reach Harmukh Ganga, or Gangabal through a Vishansar and Krishnasar which is bound to enchant you with the scenic beauty. It is a very sacred place for Hindus.

The summers in Sonamarg stretch between the months of may and October with an average temperature 14°C. this temperature makes the weather pleasant during the summers. If pilgrimage or Amarnath Yatra is on the to do list then summer is the right time to visit Sonamarg. The winters of this city stretches between November and April. Winters here face temperatue lower than subzero levels. Landscapes dressed in snow are quite a stunning view during this time of the year. Sonamarg is also blessed with Rains that occur at their will, any time of the year. Trekking post the rain showers is not a wise option. Visiting Sonamarg shall bring you the city’s best between the months of May and October.

Treking

Get Around
If one wants to travel around the city properly then the most convenient option of transport is bus. These buses have quite a good frequency in and around the city. One can also consider a tanga ride or a pony ride if leisure is one’s agenda. Ponies go till the glacier and shall cost you around Rs. 1500.

Dras is Located in Jammu Kashmir’s Kargil District. It is also known as 'The Gateway to Ladakh'. This Town Achieved Importance in 1999 subsequent to the Pakistani-backed hostile Invasions to Jammu and Kashmir. At the end of the Kargil war, Indian Army recaptured the surrounding areas of Sonamarg and the Kargil District.
