Brij Raj Bhavan Palace Kota Rajasthan
Considered the second most haunted place in Rajasthan, Brij Raj Bhavan Palace is an historic palace built by a princely family of Kota. Situated on the banks of Chambal River, it is 178 years old. This is the only place in India, which is haunted by the ghost of a British.
History
The legend of this places dates back to the times of the revolt of 1857, the British resident, Major Charles Burton was killed by some of the Indians. He was killed along with his two sons despite trying to hide and save their lives. It was in 1980 when the ghost of Burton made its first appearance. The maharani of Kota told the British journalists that she had seen his ghost in the room he was murdered. The ghost of Burton is said to be harmless, but he is said to slap the guards who sleep at night while on duty.
Features
The palace has now been converted into a heritage hotel and the guests have often complained that they have oppressive and discomforting feelings at night. The staff also claims to hear voices in the hallway at night. The voice usually says “Stop Smoking and “Do not sleep”. These voices are followed by a tight slap on the face of the person who hears it.

You can reach the palace by taking a cab or a taxi from your current location. Public conveyance is easily available in the city, so it will not be a problem to reach the Palace.
