Procedure to get a New Indane Gas Connection
The capacity of Indane Gas Connection for home use is 14.2 kg. However, it is also available in 5 kg capacity in hilly or rural areas in India.
A person can get new LPG connection easily through the country. In order to get a new LPG connection a person needs to approach the nearest Indane distributor of the area with valid documents of residence and identity. A person can present the following documents for residence’s proof: Ration Card/ Bill of Electricity/Bill of Telephone/ Passport/ Employer's Certificate /Allotment of Flat / Letter of possession/ Papers of House registration/ LIC policy/Voter’s Identity Card/Receipt of Rent/ Income Tax’s PAN card/ Driving License.
For getting a new Indane Gas Connection in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka a person requires ration card as per the requirement of State Government.
After applying for the new Indane Gas Connection, a person will be informed by the distributor through a letter by registered post. On approaching with the letter to the distributor, a new Indane connection will be released immediately. It is mandatory to purchase an ISI mark hotplate IS:4246 and Suraksha LPG hose IS:9573 (Type IV). Once this is obtained Indane connection will be released immediately and installed at the residence. A person needs to deposit security with the distributor. Following are the rates:
- Rs. 900/- (for 14.2 kg cylinder) and Rs. 100 (for 5 kg) in the regions of North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur
- Rs. 1250/- (for 14.2 kg cylinder) and Rs. 150/- (for 5 kg) in remaining states of India.
Against the security, Indian Oil Corporation sublets Indane equipments to a person. Cylinders are being checked and maintained by Indian Oil Corporation only. However, a person needs to maintain and take care of the cylinder when it is at his/her residence. A person is required to read thoroughly the terms and conditions written at the back of the subscription voucher carefully.
A subscription voucher [SV] is given after the depositing the security amount with the distributor. This needs to be kept safely as it is required whenever a person shifts from one place to another or at the time of surrendering the connection.
Domestic Gas Consumer Card:
Domestic Gas Consumer Card (DGCC) is being issued by Indane Distributor which contains particulars of LPG connections. The details of Indane supplies and other services provided by the distributor’s staff are being entered in this card. It is necessary to keep the booklet handy whenever delivery man comes to deliver the cylinder because details of refill are being updated in the booklet. A person is requested to read the safety norms and information given in the DGCC booklet.
Information and literature on LPG safety and conservation is being provided by the Indane distributor at the time of installation of the connection. Distributor’s staff also demonstrate the use of LPG equipment safely.
