Moong Dal Ka Halwa
Brief Description
Moong Dal ka Halwa is a traditional classic recipe of Rajasthan. It is often made during winters as it keeps body warm and prevent from bitter chilly winds. Moong dal ka halwa is the main desserts on weddings and it is generally prepared on holi and diwali.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 30 mins Number Of Serves 4 Ingredients for Moong Dal Ka Halwa
- Moong dal - 100 gm
- Ghee - 200 gm
- Sugar - 100 gm
- Water - 1/2 glass
- Badam - 10 pieces
- Pista - 5 pieces
- 4 to 5 Currants
How To Make Moong Dal Ka Halwa
- Soak moong dal in water for about 2 hours. Grind it and let it aside.
- Heat oil/ghee in a kadhai, and then pour grinded moong dal into it.
- Cook it over low flame until its color changes to golden brown. Also it will leave an aroma. Remove the kadhai from the flame and let it cool.
- Now heat some water into a sauce pan, add little sugar to it.
- Boil the mixture till the sugar gets melted.
- Now add moong dal mixture into this sugar mixture and sauté the mixture over a low flame. Cook till the mixture mixes well.
- Now remove the moong dal ka halwa from the flame and garnish it with finely chopped dry fruits and nuts.
- Serve it into a bowl.

Some Useful Tips

After grinding if moong dal paste contains excess amount of water then strain out all the water through strainer.
