Malai Kofta
Brief Description
Malai Kofta is a recipe for special occasions. This recipe is extremely delicious and goes well with paranthas, naans or rice. Learn how to make this recipe at home by following the procedure given below.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 30 mins Number Of Serves 4 Ingredients for Malai Kofta
For The Kofta
- Potatoes- 1 ½ lb.
- Paneer- 2 tbsp
- Khoya
- Thick cream
- Chopped cashew nuts- 4 to 5
- Raisins-12 to15
- Fnely chopped green chilies- 2 to 3
- Sugar- 1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Cumin powder- 1 tsp
- Red-chili powder- 1 tsp
- Cardamom powder- 1/2 tsp
- Salt as required
- Oil/ghee- 3 tbsp
- Oil for deep frying
For The gravy
- Chopped onions- 2
- Garlic flakes-3
- Ginger- 1 inch
- Large tomatoes- 3
- Red chili powder- 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder- 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
- Poppy seeds- 2 tsp
- Sugar- ½ tsp
- Ground cashew nuts/ peanuts- 1 tbsp
How To Make Malai Kofta
- Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Add salt as per taste. Set aside.
- Take all the ingredients for kofta and mix them together.
- Now make round balls of mashed potato and place the mixture in center.
- Seal the balls and deep fry them till they are golden brown. Take out and drain any excess oil.
- Take onions, garlic, ginger and poppy seeds and blend them together. Take a pan and fry this paste in 3 tablespoon of oil till it starts leaving oil.
- Pour in pureed tomato and add the rest of the spices.
- Add sugar and cashew nut paste
- You can also add thick cream to further thicken the gravy.
- Add water if necessary.
- Let it come to a boil and then add koftas.
- Let the koftas absorb the gravy a bit for 2 minutes and take off the heat.
- Malai kofta is ready to be served.
